University of Windsor
If you are a regular reader of my blog, it will come as no surprise to readers that I am currently enrolled in the Master of Human Kinetics (Sport Management) program at the University of Windsor (Canada). Currently, I am enrolled in a course called Crises, Politics and Commercialism in the Modern Olympic Movement.
In mid-March, this class went on a Great Olympic Journey. This trip saw me visit the cities in New York, Ontario, and Quebec as part of an enriching and transformative learning experience.
The Great Olympic Journey
If you are not aware, the motto of the International Olympic Committee, the shepherds of the Modern Olympic Movement, is Citius, Altius, Fortius. This translates from Latin to English as: Faster, Higher, Stronger.
The purpose of me being away from home for eleven days was to further explore the meaning behind Citius, Altius, Fortius, and the Modern Olympic Movement. The class focuses heavily on key crises, the politics behind, and commercialism of the Olympic Games and Movement. The Journey allowed us to immerse ourselves in this environment by seeing sites first-hand, and meeting and questioning some of the people in and behind the Movement.
