Travel Medium

Travel Medium

Travel

With the exponential growth and quickening of globalization, never before has an individual been able to go from Point A to Point B more easily and quicker.   Planes are faster.  Highways allow cars to drive more quickly.

Land

For travel on land we have trains, bus, bicycles, cards, walking (i.e., physical activity).

Water

We have ships and boats for riding the water’s surface, and submarines for travel through water.

Air

For air we have airplanes, helicopters, and other flying vehicles.

The Future

There are 3 dimensions of the physical world we can see day-to-day (width, length, and height) of all the objects we look at in the physical world.  A physicist would argue there are actually 11 and 17 dimensions, but we won’t get too technical or out there.

I think in the future, time will be the next major area of focus when it comes to travel.

Time

Some will say we are already well on our way to using time as a travel medium.  There is technology such as e-mail, Skype, and the phone to communicate with individuals from around the world.

With globalization, it is now faster to get from Point A to Point B than ever before.  So, what is next?

I am not completely sure.  However, soon, time will rarely get in our way as we decide to travel from Point A to Point B.  Time can be a huge barrier currently.  Have a few days off from work and want to go on vacation so will find a place within a few hours of home.  In the future, with the speed at which one can travel, time will no longer be a large barrier.

A Call To Action

In the future, will time machines ever exist?  Perhaps not.  With today’s other forms and speed of ‘travel’ and communication technologies, perhaps time travel (in the science fiction sense) will not be needed or wanted.
