With Russia’s recent decision to introduce a anti-homosexual law, it made me think: does Russia get rainbows?
Of course they do. It’s physics. Part of the natural world.
Just like how the natural world has rainbows, people come in all colours, shapes, size, gender, likes, preferences, wants, needs, etc. Humanity is the Rainbow Human Race!
We cannot send Russia to the time out chair for their recent introduction of anti-“propaganda” law. This will not solve anything. This, though, is what people are calling for.
How will taking the Olympics away from the country change beliefs and attitudes? It will just make Russia angry. Resentful.
This is like taking a toy away from a baby when it is making too much noise. Take the toy away and the infant cries. Likely the infant doesn’t learn. However, if you show the baby a different way to use the toy or how to make less noise, you won’t be bothered by the noise and the baby will be content. You can create this change through slow and gentle steps, rather than taking a sledge hammer to the toy.
This is what we need with Russia’s new legislation. Canada and Canadians, and all the other members of the Rainbow World must lead by example. Show Russia and let Russia learn from Canada (this isn’t to say Canada has the most inclusive homosexual or human rights) as to how to enact laws that support diversity, inclusivity, and human rights.
We need #peace4all. This peace will come through dialogue, leading by example, and leadership, rather than simply taking the “toy” (Olympics) away. It is our time to be teachers, not punishers.
#peace4all #OneWorld #NoHate
